The Gnostic Society in Los Angeles has sponsored activities dedicated to furthering an understanding of Gnosis and Gnosticism for over sixty years. The Society's "Friday Evening Lecture Series", presented for the last four decades by Dr. Stephan Hoeller, provides a distinguished and uniquely focused forum for individuals interested in Gnosticism, Jungian psychology, Kabbalah, mythology, and other subjects related to Gnosticism.
In 1979 a young Hollywood recording engineer by the name of Bryan Campbell saw the importance of this work by Dr. Hoeller and began making high-quality recordings of every weekly lecture. Thus there came into existence "BC Recordings".
Many thousands of people from all over the world have now had the opportunity to enjoy Dr. Hoeller's teaching by way of audio recordings of his lectures. (If you are unfamiliar with Stephan Hoeller and would like to know more about the man, see this recent cover story from L.A. Weekly Magazine .)
In 1996 we added another service, providing visitors to The Gnosis Archive website (currently over 1.5 million visitors a year) an opportunity to hear free online lectures selected from Dr. Hoeller's Gnostic Society presentations. In fact, through our partnership with The Gnosis Archive, BC Recordings became one of the very first (and now one of the oldest) online providers of internet audio.
Due to increasing demand for the lectures in recent years, in 2005 this on-line catalog was created to offer our collection of Dr. Hoeller's lectures to a wider public. We are now able to provide hundreds of these amazing lectures in mp3 format at a very reasonable price. BC Recordings is a service, it is not a big company. It is run entirely by Bryan Campbell, who has spent years recording and archiving these lectures so that he could share their wisdom with others.
